NEWS: northern line weekend disruption on bank branch

The Northern Line's eastern leg is getting kneecapped every weekend until at least May 2022, with no service south of Moorgate on the Bank branch.

Some trains will run from Camden Town, Euston, Kings Cross and Angel via Old Street to Moorgate where they terminate. But TfL have warned that even this shortened Moorgate service will be limited, and have promised more trains on the Charing Cross branch to compensate.

Call us cynical, but we're not sure just how great an increase they can provide nor how helpful this is to those heading south and east, notably via the Central and Jubilee Lines or for National Rail trains from London Bridge.

The weekend work is to improve connections at Bank and Monument stations, which, to be fair, have been a running joke (or a free 'steps and speed walking' gym workout alternative) for many a year.

NEWS: TWO VIOLENT INCIDENTS IN CAMDEN AT WEEKEND

A young man was stabbed in the early hours of Sunday 12 September in the Finchley Road area of Camden. Thankfully he was not seriously hurt, however police are urging any witnesses to get in touch.

A Met spokesman said: "We're investigating the stabbing of a man, aged in his 20s, at around 4.45am on Finchley Road NW3. Nobody has been arrested. Anyone with information please call 101 quoting 1590/12sep or contact Crimestoppers."

That incident was in the north-west corner of Camden borough. The previous morning, some four miles away in the south-east of Camden, shots were fired at the Rosewood Hotel in High Holborn.

Nobody was injured and the Met's investigation has led to a man being charged with firearms offences. He is Andrew Cross, 38, of Station Way, Greenwich.

MISSING TEENS

On 9 September and again on 11 September, the Met issued appeals for help in tracing two missing Islington teenagers.

Jessen and Wasley are aged 15 and 14 respectively and were last seen on 4 September near Green Lanes station.

Please see appeal and images here or contact the charity Missing People whose details are here.

UP AND GUNNING

One-nil to the Arsenal has always had a certain ring to it, and it'll do for now as the Gunners put a trio of early season defeats behind them with a win over equally winless Norwich.

That man Aubameyang got the only goal midway through the second half.

Next up for Islington's finest is a trip to Burnley on 18 September. We predict a 3-0 win for Arteta's troops.

KT SEAMONSTERS

Indie pioneers The Wedding Present have confirmed their date at the O2 Kentish Town Forum on 27 November as they celebrate 30 years since the release of their album Seamonsters.

Like many Londoners, we're drifting back into 'proper life' post Covid.

But a Wedding Present gig in Camden is a pretty good incentive to get back out there. Ticket details here.
